Q: What happened to the old version of the comic?
A: We don't talk about the old version of the comic.
Q: What was your inspiration for Roadkill?
A: Roadkill was inspired by several different slasher films, but the main inspiration was the Child's Play series. I was especially inspired by the raunchy comedy angle the series took in Bride Of Chucky and Seed Of Chucky, and those movies were a big inspiration for both the plot and the humor. Other than that... It's over all just inspired by the slasher genre! Tissue Box herself was inspired heavily by Tiffany Valentine!
Q: Where did Roadkill get it's start?
A: Originally, it was gonna be a normal ol' competition show. It went through a few changes with it's plot, having characters added and removed and having their personalities changed from left to right, before eventually I got bored of the concept, took my favorite characters from it, and decided to make it a high school drama parody similar to something like Clone High. It's weird to think that RK has routes as a teen drama show seeing what it eventually became, but it got this way because I just wasn't really feeling it. I'm a horror freak, and I knew I wanted to do something horror themed, so the concept was once again scrapped. It wasn't until around a year ago when I was walking to class that the idea came to me. The funny part? I got the idea because I was listening to a fucking Rob Zombie song, specifically "Pussy Liquor", and in my head it was the perfect track to the opening of a slasher, and I knew that that was the idea I wanted to stick. After months and months of planning out the story, here we are! Thank you Rob Zombie!
Q: How do you draw the pages? Is it digital or traditional?
A: That's two questions, smartass! Anyways, all the pages are drawn traditionally, then scanned and edited on my laptop. I specifically use a browser-based editing software called Photopea, which has all the same tools and functions of Photoshop, but available for free.
Q: How do you feel about fan content like fanart, OCs, shipping, fanfic, etc?
A: I'm totally okay with it! I love seeing everyone's creations and knowing that my art inspired someone else to be creative and add on to my story. The only thing I can say is that, when it comes to shipping, I'm not comfortable with ships involving pedophilia or incest. Unfortunately this is a problem that's existed in my community ever since the comic came out. I'm unable to stop anybody from reading this comic or making whatever art they want to, so all I can really ask is for those people to respect my boundaries by not sending it to me or putting it in the community discord server.
Q: What about NSFW?
A: Just like I said above, I'm totally okay with NSFW art, as long as it doesn't involve children or pedophilic/incestuous relationships and is posted in a place that isn't easily accessible by minors. Of course, I don't want minors posting that kind of art, either, for their own safety.
Q: Who were the first characters to be created, and were there any characters made specifically for the comic?
A: There's only one character who was specifically made for the comic, that being Cherry. Well... There's technically more, but Cherry counts more as a character than any of those people, since they're more background characters than anything. As for who came first, it was actually Glowy! Glowy was my first ever object OC in general. Leaving her out of the comic felt like a crime. Tamagotchi and Controller came next, then Tank Top, then Tissue Box, then Flaggy and Nachos, and lastly Fireball and Cherry.
Q: Were there any characters who got major personality changes, or major changes in general?
A: Like I said a few questions ago, yes, there were! The biggest difference is definitely Glowy. Originally she was made with a pretty similar personality to Fireball, being a rowdy party girl, but I decided that the two were too similar and decided to make Glowy the anxious girl we know and love. Controller also had a huge personality shift, she was originally a sort of cynical, lazy, tired person who usually spoke in gamer lingo. Controller being a gamer stuck, but I decided she worked better as a cheery sweetheart, again, since her personality was too similar to Tank Top. Flaggy was originally more of a jock bully, but I decided to just make him annoying. Nachos wasn't originally gonna be Controller's boyfriend, but I liked it so I changed it, and the same can be said for Tamagotchi being Controller's little sister. Originally Glowy and Fireball were a couple, but I scrapped it because I didn't like their dynamic. Aaaaand finally, all of the characters besides TB were originally teenagers, but I decided to make them adults in the end because I didn't really feel comfortable involving mostly underage characters in these situations. Of course, horror that utilizes underage characters is fine, I just preferred to keep the characters of-age for this one. That's about it!
